Changing identities in Outlook express 6
When I check my email in outlook express 6 it works fine even when I change identities to my husbands account. It lets me check it but I can't go back to the main account. When I exit outlook express I cannot get back in without rebooting my computer. This has been happening for about 3 months. It seemed to fix itself when I did a system restore but it has gone back to not letting me back in without rebooting. Can someone please help. I only have 2 identities. Main and my husbands business account.

Replaced my main identity, but it didn't fix the problem. I will try the other link you supplied for the fix? Who knows maybe it will work. MS wanted me to install the cumulative update for outlook express to fix the problem from SP1, does this sound OK to you? SP1 was a long time ago and I've only had the problem for about 3 months off and on.

Yes I have SP3 installed, that is why I thought the fix MS tech gave me was a bit out there. It has gotten wqrse. Now I can check email once without changing identities and have to reboot. I think I might switch to outlook? I think I can set it up the same. It's been awhile since I 've use it. Not to happy with all the updates from MS. I'm pretty sure that is when it originally happened. Thank you for your help.

Well, this bug is old and was fixed with SP2.When you created the new identity, did you actually move the messages from the main identity and delete it?If you haven't, do so and also replace the other identity. In File | Identities | Manage Identities, uncheck: Use this identity when starting a program.Bruce HagenMS-MVP Oct. 1, 2004 ~ Sept. 30, 2010Imperial Beach, CA

Yes, I deleted the main identity after creating the new one and moving my information. I also went in and deleted some old information from the new identity. I will now replace the other identity. I'll let you know.
