Choosing a preferred network: LAN vs. Wireless
I've set up Sync/Offline files successfully on my laptop. The problem is when my laptop is docked, and has both LAN and wireless connections, the network chooses the wireless connection over the LAN (which obviously is much faster). Is there a way to make the LAN the preferred network? When I try disabling the wireless, sync does not work as it appears to be linked in some way to the wireless network.

Windows should choose the faster speed interface as the default by automatically assigning a lower metric value. See this for an explanation. If you go to Start > Run and do a cmd /k route print command you will see the currently assigned metrics.http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/299540With that said you could manually assign a lower metric value to the wired connection...http://cid-25ab668da65c8fbe.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Windows%20images/AdjustInterfaceMetricValue.pngMS-MVP Windows Desktop Experience, "When all else fails, read the instructions"

Thanks. I checked and the wired network is assigned a 12 while the wireless is 11, thus confirming that Windows thinks the wireless is faster. Is it as simple as switching the values in the Advanced TCP/IP properties page?

I wonder what happens to an application that has a persisitent connection to its back-end server using the wireless connection at the moment the wired connection is enabled. Will it switch to the wired connection with higher preference or will it keep on using the wireless connection because an existing connection will not be interrupted?
