Completely Prevent Sleep/Hibernation on Windows 7 LAPTOP After RDP Session
Hi there - I've read a number of threads about this topic but haven't been able to find a solution yet. I've set up a QuickBooks remote access solution for a client using Logmein Hamachi and RDP. Everything works fine, the client is able to log in and use Quickbooks without issue. However, once they end the RDP session, the laptop is returned to the login screen. It remains here for a short time, before going into sleep mode - preventing the client from being able to log in again. I have been through all advanced power setting options, setting EVERYTHING in there to never. We have left the laptop on the desktop for days without it going to sleep - but as soon as we end an RDP session, things change and it goes to sleep soon after. So... 1. Does anyone know of a way to disable this behavior of going to sleep at the login screen? It seems impossible but very curious to hear feedback. 2. Does anyone know of a way to use scheduled tasks to continually wake the computer, or provide enough input that it never would sleep (even a key press every few minutes to keep the computer on). 3. I've toyed with using WoL, but may have some issues implementing it in their firewall. However, any experience using WoL over Hamachi? I've read of mixed results. Many thanks! Josh

thanks, though I'm not sure you read the post. The software I am using is Windows 7 and RDP. I'm looking for advice on these two microsoft products. There are no issues with the PC. Any other thoughts? Many thanks.

Thanks. 1. Logme is actually specifically set to NOT let Windows sleep. 2. The issue is specifically with RDP. If RDP does not return Windows to the login screen, the computer doesn't shut down. So, this is specifically an acknowledged Windows 7 / RDP issue. If anyone has any thoughts, do let me know. It would be much appreciated. Thanks.
