Computer C disk cleanup is missing
I have accidently deleted the disk clean up on drive C. I thought that if I restored it to another time, that would help? Did it ? NO Now I am stuck on Jan. 13 2010 because there is a download on that day that has already downloded. I have no idea of what to do. Does anyone? I use Windows 7.

Just curious as to how you deleted disk cleanup, or did you delete the shortcut to it? So if you go to Start > Computer > Right click 'C:' > Properties - Do you see disk cleanup?

Hi,Did you delete the file %windir%\system32\cleanmgr.exe accidentally? If so, I do not think system restore will be of any help, but you can still have a try. Restore it from the Recycal bin Or run SRC.exe to fix the file.If the disk cleanup missing from Drive Properties, try the following steps:1. If you right-click a drive, select Properties, then select the Tools tab, you'll see buttons for backing up and defragmenting your disk. On the General tab, you'll also see a button labeled Disk Cleanup. By default, Win7 run the following programs for Disk Cleanup:- Disk cleanup--%SystemRoot%\System32\cleanmgr.exe /D %c 2. Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\MyComputerregistry subkey. Under the subkey are three keys: BackupPath, cleanuppath, and DefragPath. Under each of these keys, the (Default) value specifies the program to be used. If any of the keys don't exist (by default, BackupPath doesn't exist in Win2K), go to the Edit menu; select New, Key; then enter the name of the missing key under the MyComputer subkey.3. Double-click the (Default) value under the path you want to modify, change the value to reflect the program you want to use, (%SystemRoot%\System32\cleanmgr.exe /D %c) then click OK.4. Close the registry editor.

Add to Magon's suggestion, if the "Disk Cleanup" button is missing on the C: drive Properties' General tab, you can check if the Recycle Bin's setting is set correctly:1. Right click on the Recycle Bin and then click Properties.2. Choose "Custom size", and then click OK.Please check if the Disk Cleanup button can be restored.

Once the custom size was checked disk cleanup appeared. Thanks!
