Computer Name changing on its own, automatically...
Hi, Recently, within the last 2 weeks, I have had (3) Windows 7 Professional PCs change automatically change their computer name to another computer in my organization. The strange thing is they all changed thier name to the same computer in this case ( csi-8bzz9f1 ). See image below. If I try to logging in to the computer with and available network connection I get "The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship.". I can change the name back to the correct name if I log in locally or via a cached profile (No Network)and everything is fine. Why is this happening to my Windows 7 PC's? Any thoughts? Thanks RDuquette

I have a similar but yet differnt scenario. I changed the names of my systems and reboot and it seems to work. However, shortly later if I check again the name would have reverted back to the name it had previously. I did some digging and found out that the name is being created based on the IP address of the system. Eg. If the ip is 10.10.10.234 then the machine name would be automatically made to be XXX-234. I am assuming that this is some knd of local policy or mayb a registry entry. Maybe someone can help me in identifying where this problem might be occuring? Thanks in advance!
