Computer doesn't connect to the internet.
Recently our computer got attacked by a virus, the OS got eaten, so I reinstalled XP. I also manually reinstalled the drivers for it from Dell's website because we had lost the disc. Everything works on the computer now except for the internet. I have tried to create a new internet connection called Comcast, and I set it up okay. But the problem is that it doesn't seem to acknowledge that the modem is plugged into it. I keep getting the Error 678 message: "The remote computer did not respond. For further assistance, click More Info or search Help and Support Center for the error number."I've searched the Help and Support, but the links to the definitions and information don't work, so that was useless. I've been to Comcast's site and even tried chatting with a tech support person, but it was like talking to a six year old and a total waste of time. She just had me turn it off and then back on and then asked pointless questions that didn't help her determine anything at all. She pointed me in the direction of Microsoft, but the number she gave me doesn't work anymore, and apparently you have to pay money to call them for tech support now? Wtf?Anywho, I'm just really aggravated and I have no idea how to fix this... It's probably something really easy, but I can't figure it out.1 person got this answerI do too
