Computer doesn't recognize Microsoft sign-in password after upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 on 64 bit laptop
Immediately after I upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1, I can only login to my HP laptop via fingerprint, but not the Microsoft sign-in password. I tried changing the Microsoft password after I signed in with my fingerprint, but the new password still
wasn't recognized to start up my computer.

I figured out my problem. It turns out that I had a Local Sign-In Account for my User account and not a Microsoft Live Sign-In account. It appears that Windows 8.1 doesn't function well with a Local Sign-In account. I created a
different User account with the Microsoft Live Sign-In, but none of my documents, mail, etc. transferred over to this User account. I'm not sure the easiest to do this. I may need to contact Microsoft tech support...

I figured out my problem. It turns out that I had a Local account for my User account and not a Microsoft Live account. It appears that Windows 8.1 doesn't function as well with a Local User account, so l plan to change my Local account to
a Live account, which it looks like I can do via Switch PC Settings for Users.
