Computer not seeing browser or modem
My computer was not seeing browser or modem, in trying to find answers, I ran across something that told me "firewall connection is blocking the necessary FTP ports". Then it told me to go to control panel, internet options, security, it stated levels should not be higher than Medium as it makes firewall block. I then went to Windows Firewall and in the add programs I saw "Internet Explorer", but it was not on the list for Exceptions. I would like to know if I should add 'Internet Explorer" to my Windows Firewall Exceptions tab list. Could this be the reason my computer was not "seeing the browser or modem"?1 person needs an answerI do too

HiThe computer does not see a browser. Browser is a program like Internet Explorer that is used to browse the Internet. You have to add it to the Firewall exception so it will not be blocked by the Firewall. If your computer is connected correctly to the Internet and you run Internet Explorer you should be able to browse. If the computer does not have a valid Internet connection, then the browser will not be able to connect to the Internet, and will yield an Error message.Read this page about the connection, the relevant part for you is up to "Connect computers in different rooms to the Internet".http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/wired.mspx Jack-MVP Windows Networking.
