Computer wont stay in standby
My home computer won't stay in Stand By mode. When I click Start/Turn-off/StandBy, it goes into standby ok, but when I come back to the computer later, either the windows desktop or the windows screen saver is displayed. Whats up ?

Hi Robertb40,Did you make any software or hardware changes on your machine prior to this issue?Let’s follow these methods & check if it helps.Method 1If you have any unnecessary external device connected to the computer, unplug it & check if the issue persists.Method 2You may download & install the latest graphics card drivers from the manufacturer’s website & check if the issue persists.How to manage devices in Windows XPMethod 3You may try to uncheck the option ‘Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby’ & check if the machine is able to stay in the standby state. Follow the steps given below.a) Type devmgmt.msc in Start > Run box and hit Enter.b) In device manager, expand network adapters. c) Right click on Properties >click on the Power Management tab.d) Uncheck the option ‘Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby’.e) Click Ok.Hope the information helps.
