Connecting Window 7 / 8 to Server 2008 R2 Domain Controll (DNS ERROR)
Does anyone have a solution, nothing in the forums with this same type of problem has fixed the problem. I have added the (A) record to the host, and from the records that were added from the wizard for DNS added the static IP of the server to the other
records. Like I said before XP machines will connect to the domain with no problems, it is only the Windows 7 and 8 machines that gives us the DNS error. Any help would be greatly appriciated. It looks like I am not the only one who has been going
though this problem. If Microsoft has a WIZARD that can configure the DNS on the server when it adds it as a domain controller with Active Directory you would think they would test it to make sure all of the software functions with at least their own software.
Actual error is
The following error occured attempting to join the domain 'rcdc1'
An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a domain controller in the domain being joined has failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that can resolve DNS names in the target domain. For information about network troubleshooting

Problem Solved, did a clean install of Server 2008 R2 SP1, did the following in this order
1. Reinstalled Server 2008 R2 SP1, set IP of DC as Primary in DNS, Secondary DNS BLANK, Turn off IP6
2. Added AD Role
3. DCPROMO with DNS
4. Tried to connect to Server from Windows 7 Pro machine, received error concerning netlogon not Running, went to netlogon service (services.msc) made sure under log on the (Local was checked and also interface with desktop was checked) did a reboot
of the Windows 7 machine. Remember to point primary DNS to IP of DC, secondary can be DNS of ISP if desired. Remove IP6 support
5. Did a join to the domain using the full domain name xxxxx.xx joined with no problem.
6. I have no idea what the clean install cleaned up because nothing had been installed on the Server, other than the AD, and DCPROMO Wizard, same box, same IP, same network configuration same DNS.
Hope this helps others who are having a problem connecting Windows 7 to a 2008 R2 Domain Controller

Hi,
Firstly, please let us know the whether other computers in the same network could join the domain?
In addition, it is recommended to post the thread in
