Connecting to a server on a different domain really slow
I am doing ASP.NET development on my local Windows 7(Build 7100)laptop. It connects to a server named MYSERVER which is not on the same domain as my laptop. The server contains the SQL Server that I connect directly to, as well as a web service that I connect to to retrieve data. The performance from Windows 7 dealing with server MYSERVER is incredibly slow. Web pages that are generated locally that access the SQL Server database used to take less than 1 second, now take between 2 and 3 minutes. Debugging a page can take 2 to 3 minutes before a breakpoint at the top of the page is reached. When I remote desktop into the server, the lag time between clicks is 10 to 15 seconds. For example, If I click Start, it takes 10 to 15 seconds for the start menu to appear. Clicking on an icon, it take 10 to 15 seconds before the icon becomes highlighted. My internet speeds are fine. Pinging the server results in: Reply from 10.4.1.202: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=124 Reply from 10.4.1.202: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=124 Reply from 10.4.1.202: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=124 Reply from 10.4.1.202: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=124 If I use my other PC running XP (still not on the same domain as the server), the speeds are lightening fast.
