This is most likely due to a required network component not running/disabled.You may have a static IP address configured for your network interface and possibly have stopped or disabled the DHCP Client Service. The name of the service is a little misleading. It not only handles DHCP functions, but several other functions such as name lookup (DNS &WINS/NetBios). To check this out, start up your Services MMC by going to Start > Run > Services.msc [enter]Find the DHCP Client Service and make sure it is set to start automatically and running. If not, make the changes and start it. Then try your IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS again. If this isn't it, there may be other components of your networking that have been disabled that need to be re-enabled or bound to the interface. Check your network connection properties. Make sure Client for Microsoft Networks is installed and bound/enabled as well as Internet Protocal Version 4 and/or 6(TCP/IP).You can also try to right-click on your network connection and choose the "Repair" option. Keep in mind this will re-configure your interface for DHCP and you will loose any currently configured static entries and settings.
