When the drive was encrypted, you should have been prompted to save a file with the recovery information (unless you laptop is a member of Active Directory and Group Policy was configured to store that information in ADDS). You must have the recovery information in this file to access your BitLocker encrypted drive. If you do not, you will need to restore it from your last backup.
