There are two ways to go about diagnosing this. You can use the Windows Troubleshooters or do it from a command prompt. To open the troubleshooter, right click on the network icon and select "Troubleshoot problems". Go with the prompts after that.To use a command prompt, click Start\Run or type Win+R, then type cmd (enter).Start with ipconfig /all, just to see what the current settings are. Then type ipconfig /release if it still has a DHCP address. Then type ipconfig /flushdns and then ipconfig /renew.If you are in a Domain environment, you should also enter ipconfig /registerdns.Last, you can type ipconfig /all to see what settings have now become.Watch for any error messages for any of these commands.Report back the results.

I ran wireshark and found that my service provider does not support IPv6, and my router. IPv6 is sending a packet to the router asking for a header and the router does not know how to respond and sends back a solicitation request to my computer. Its between these request ip6tcp reports an error because of the time required that the handshake is complete. so now I'm wondering if IPV6tcp can be disable and simple tcp enable. Right click on the network icon adn selectOpen the Network and Sharing Center. In the resulting window, select "Change adapter settings".In the Network Connections window, select the "Local Area Connection" (or whatever it's called), then "Change settings of this connection" or file>properties. In the connection property page, uncheck the box for "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)".Close all the windows. You should be fine. You can ignore any advisories about a reboot being required. This hasn't really been necessary in NT for the last ten years or more. Or, go ahead and reboot if you want.

That Event Viewer complaint is alarming but not indicating anyfunctional problem, as long as your IPV4 does work. However, the other Event Viewer entry suggests you are having some issues with IP(v4) DHCP addressassignment. Sometimes you'll just see those here and there, and they resolve themselves automatically. But while you're following bnborg's instructions, continue on and examinethe IPV4 Properties. Under General>Advanced TCP/IP Settings>DNS, make sure the option Register this connection's address in DNS is checkmarked. Assuming you are in fact usinga wireless AP dedicated to your DSL service, you can also turn off NetBIOS and LMHOSTS under the WINS tab (next to the DNS tab just described above). Also, back in the Properties summary, you can UN-check basically everything except IPV4 and your AntiVirus filter. Eg, QoS, LLTD, Microsoft Networks and Printer Sharing. You will not notice anything different having done so. It just simplifies your logging into your AP.This is not true. This will cause all LAN to disappears. All protocols and services including TCP/IPv6 must be enabled for proper and useful network use.

What I stated is correct. The caveat in that paragraph is that the AP is dedicated to the single purpose of connecting to the DSL service. In particular, to be clear, there are no other devices on that link. (Or if there are, that they also do not have need for those things). I cannot see any reason to think that you and colakidhave same configuration. Why you think he have same configuration as you?

Ventsislav Alexandriyski: Keep your comments to yourself when you don't really know about it. Unless you are actually using IPv6, there is no need to have IPv6 enabled. Disabling it when you don't need it is in accordance with the Microsoft guidelines for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2. If it is appropriate for servers, it is also for workstations.

Disabling TCP/IPv6 does not bring any advantages even when it is not used 4. Please do not give me advices how to set TCP/IPv6 on my computer, especially if I do not ask you 5.learn why server is called server and why workstation is called workstation, maybe difference is not only the name.
