Cursor freezes
I downloaded, burned, and installed Windows 7. I like the interface. I am able to dual boot. I am still using XP, never bothered to upgrade to Vista...too many problems it seemed. Problem: when trying to download a video, Win7 would freeze. I then had to reboot my laptop and everything seemed to go haywire. I had to to a restore on my laptop...no problem there. Reloaded Win7 using the disk that i had burned. Now, the cursor freezes after rebooting. I am able to see the desktop, was able to install an antivirus program, then all seems to have gone south. Unable to keep the cursor from freezing and then the laptop just locks up altogether. Any ideas out there? I know this is a beta version and i am not expecting anything gret yet. I like the feel of the new operating system. Any ideas on how to combat my problem.

So you say the cursor freezes after you boot - and this started after you installed an antivirus program... 1.) Which antivirus did you install?2.) Have you been able to boot it into safe mode? If so, does it do the same thing there?3.) Is there any chance you can uninstall the antivirus app?

I believe that it is build 6800. However, i am unable to get far enough into the process now before the PC locks up on me. I am still able to dual boot into Win7 or WinXP though. When i boot into Win7, the system loads, i have the desktop, the antivirus, AVG free that I downloaded is on the desktop, the loading process continues for about 30 seconds and then locks up. Thus i am unable to click on Start.

1. I installed AVG Free2. yes, i can boot into Safe Mode. And yes, the PC does the same as in normal starting mode.3. I will try the next time i boot into Win7, thought most usually the freeze starts very quickly into the process.thank you for your comments Wolfie2k6

Wow.. 6800..!?! That is a very, very old build. In fact, the build released at the PDC last October had a higher build number than that if I recall correctly. You say the desktop appears - can you see a build number in the bottom right corner - just above the clock? It should say something like: Windows 7For Testing purposes Only. Build 7000That's the offical Windows 7 beta build number, by the way. Please verify this, if you can.1.) AVG free - Assuming that is the beta version that's supposed to support Windows 7 and not something older.2.) Same thing in Safe Mode... Not good. 3.) Not sure you can, but give it a shot. If you can't, we'll have to skip to plan B.
