DHCP not working in Vista Home Premium?
Just fired up a new HP desktop with Vista Home Premium. Plugged into my router, but no DHCP, no internet access. Tried disabling IPv6, added default gateway, etc. Says I'm connected to the router but ipconfig shows an address that is NOT coming from my network. HP support.... well, no help after 3 hours on the phone. They claim it's the router. However I can take the laptop (that I'm using to post this now) and plug into the router and it works just fine. The laptop is running XP Pro though. Completely generic setup, just runs. Any ideas? (Note: I can connect and get to the internet if I use a static IP)

Hi, THanks a lot for reporting the issue. There some old routers which doesn't support DHCP RFC fully, that made VISTA DHCP not getting IP address from few routers in the world. Can you follow the steps given in the KB article @ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928233and let us the finding. Thanks -RamaSubbu SK [Personal Blog]
