DISKDRIVE PARTITIONING
Two days ago I opened my computer and was told I didn't have enough disk memory. My computer had an disk drive with 400 gb. Now I have two drives; one with 76 gb and 2.78 gb of free space (OS) and a second drive (D) with 204 gb and 89 gb od free space. How in the hell the (OS) drive got partitioned I have no idea! HOW DO I GET BACK TO A SINGLE DRIVE and ELIMINATE THE (D) DRIVE???????? dICK

Hi Dick, Based on my research, to combine these partitions, you need to remove the second partition and extend the system partition. Please take the following steps: Note: Removing partition will also delete the files and data on it. If you want to do this, please backup the data in D drive. 1. Please click Start button -> type diskmgmt.msc in the search box -> Press Enter to access to Disk Management. 2. In Disk Management, right click D drive and choose Delete Volume. After that, right click C drive and choose Extend Volume. Follow the Wizard to finish the task. Hope this helps. Dear Niki: I tried the first step you recomended and thie is what I got: 1. TYPED IN: "diskmanagement.msc" and hit search. 2. search came up with a window that had several things. 3. I then right clicked on the "D" drive and the following came up: -- EXPAND --OPEN NEW WINDOW --sHARE WITH --RESTORE PREVIOUS VERISONS --INCLUDE IN LIBRARY --SCAN FOR SECURITY THREATS --FORMAT --COPY --RENAME --NEW --PROPERITIES This the list that was on this menu. SO NOW WHAT MY DEAR?????? AZTECMANAZTECMAN

*Sigh* First of all, check and make sure there's nothing you want to save on your D: drive, as this procedure will erase all the data there! Go to the Start Orb and type "computer management" in the search box. A program called Computer Management should appear in the results list; click on that to start it. A screen like this will appear: Select Disk Management from the list on the left and a screen similar to this will appear: Of course, yours will probably have only a single physical disk, not the three I'm showing here. Next right-click on the parttion labeled as "D:" - something like this will open: Click on Delete Volume and follow any prompts. When it's done, what was D: should show as Unallocated Space. Now right-click on the C: partition and this time choose Extend Volume. Follow any prompts and when it's done D: will be gone and All Your Base Is Belong... Ahem. Sorry. All your space will belong to drive C:. There may be a couple of reboots in there somewhere too. WARNING: DO NOT TRY TO DELETE THE SYSTEM RESERVED OR C: PARTITIONS OR YOU WILL BORK YOUR COMPUTER!
