DNS Broke - nslookup Successful But Ping Fails
Hello,I am working on a client's old computer which is running Windows XP SP2. The computer is unable to get online because of some sort of DNS issue, so it appears. See, very odd: C:\Documents and Settings\Helen>nslookup digg.comServer: vnsc-pri.sys.gtei.netAddress: 4.2.2.1Non-authoritative answer:Name: digg.comAddress: 64.191.203.30C:\Documents and Settings\Helen>ping 64.191.203.30Pinging 64.191.203.30 with 32 bytes of data:Reply from 64.191.203.30: bytes=32 time=83ms TTL=242Reply from 64.191.203.30: bytes=32 time=81ms TTL=242Reply from 64.191.203.30: bytes=32 time=82ms TTL=242Reply from 64.191.203.30: bytes=32 time=86ms TTL=242Ping statistics for 64.191.203.30: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 81ms, Maximum = 86ms, Average = 83msC:\Documents and Settings\Helen>ping digg.comPing request could not find host digg.com. So it's just this computer.Even tried installing BIND 9 on the PC and same problem. :(Thanks for the help,WillGod Bless America1 person needs an answerI do too

I fixed it by managing to install SP3. So simply installing SP3 for Windows XP fixed the issue. :D And yes Ben, I had tried that too. Was an odd 1. Thanks for trying to help though.God Bless America
