DNS Client and fqdn ping
Hello,
i have asked the question in the winXP forum, but we have the same problem with windows 7.
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itproxpsp/thread/8fd4a5c4-8dcf-42b4-9ec4-2c63d7bddbb9
we have windows 7 clients with the following problem:
When windows 7 is started we could not ping fqdn from trusted domain (servername.domainname.local).
The DNS Zone from the trusted domain is a secondary zone on the primary DNS server for the 7 client.
When i tr to ping fqdn -> host not found.
When i try to nslookup fadn -> everything ok
When i try to ping external fqdn, e.g. www.google.de -> no problem
Whe i stop the "dns client" service on the windows 7 workstation, i can ping the fqdn.
Several client have the same problem.
Primary DNS server for the affected clients is windows 2003 server. (no active directory integrated zone)
The DNS server in the domain.local domain is windows 2008r2 (active integrated dns zone).
Is there a problem with the replicated dns data from windows2008r2->windows 2003?
Anybody knows this problem?
When i disable the dns cache on the win7 workstations, the win7 workstations are not updateing their DNS record.
All win7 workstaions are using dhcp.
Is there a way to update the dns directly from the dhcp server (windows 2003)? We have enabled "allow secure and unsecure updates", also DHCP is set to update DNS entries every time.
But this does not seem to help
Thank you
Regards
Marc
