Hi All!
My query unfortunately was not resolved in Microsoft Community and a tech guy advised to post it here.
Notebook in question: HP Pavilion 17 K6Y34EAW (17,3"/AMD A8/4GB/1TB/Windows 8.1)
In first 2 months the machine performed fine but after one of the MS updates DNS errors started to come up, for instance:
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO INTERNET
EER_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT
EER_QUIC_PROTOCOL_ERROR
It takes quite long to download a website and often it appears with reduced content, broken images, etc.
Actually only Chrome classify the errors as DNS-related, the other browsers such as Mozilla, IE8 or Edge just say "Server not found", "This page can't be displayed" or "Hmm, we can't reach this page" respectively. So you now may guess W10 doens't resolve the problem.
What I tried and what didn't help or provide only temporary solution:
1) ipconfig/release - /flushdns - /renew (all run as admin)
2) netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt (run as admin and then reboot followed)
3) talked with internet service provider (everything is OK on their side)
3) also tried wired connection (Ethernet) but no luck (currently using wi-fi)
4) tried to use IP address advised by service provider
5) tried to use preferred/alternative DNS server: 8888/8844
6) switching off firewall and antivirus
I am now quite sure it was W8.1 and currently W10 that is faulty because the old Lenovo running with XP doesn't produce DNS errors.
Looking forward to your feedback, guys!
Cheers,
Viktor
