I have two out six new computers I reciently set up that appear to have a corrupt Default Profile. Under user profiles the default profile has a ? mark in the size column and when I try to log in with a new user who has an account but no profile yet, I get an error C:\windows\system32]config\systemprofile\destop refers to a location that is unavailable.... and an Acrobat Distiller error initializing interpreter: fatal error. Event Viewer has serveral warnings and a couple errors - Event ID's 1505, 1509, 1511, 1530, 1534. Any idea what happened and how to fix it?

Still hoping for an answer. Is there a way to rebuild the default profile? Thanks in advance! Jamey

Hi Jamey, Thanks for the post! The Event ID 1505, 1509, 1511 all showed failed to load the user profile. However, the Event ID 1530 showed your registry file is used by other services or applications. Try to enter into the Safe Mode to check if it works. Try a Clean Boot http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 in case any third-party software or services conflict. If all these doesn't work. to fix the default profile, you need to do a In-Place Upgrade http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2255099. I tried part of the Clean Boot process and I haven't gotten through all the Microsoft processes yet - but I will post the 1530 error text so that maybe you might be able to help me narrow it down. Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded now. The applications or services that hold your registry file may not function properly afterwards. Hi Jamey, Based on this article: Event ID: 1530 may be logged in the Application log on a Windows 7-based or Windows Vista-based client computer http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947238 This event is a warning level message. It couldn't be the cause that your default profile cannot be loaded. Do you have a backup? Maybe you can try a system restore. I tried reverting to a previous restore point but that didn't work. I ended up rebuilding the system. Thanks anyway.
