Defaults to 7 OS when trying to boot to XP from different HDs
I installed Windows 7 on my slave HDD and kept XP on my master HDD, but when I restart my computer to boot into XP it defaults back to the Windows 7 OS. I actually disconnected the HDD that had Windows 7 installed on and only used my XP HDD but when restarting the computer it continues to go to the dual-boot screen where it asks if I want to load Windows 7 or XP. I checked my boot.ini file and there is nothing in it about Windows 7, so how do I get rid of this? There should be no connection with Windows 7 when the HDD that it's installed on is not even in my computer, right?

Did you unload the Windows XP system drive when you installed Windows 7 RC? If so, a boot partition will be created on that Windows 7 RC hard drive. Then, although you have changed the boot.ini file in the Windows XP system, the computer will recognize the higher version boot engine which is for the Windows 7 RC system. After you remove the Windows 7 RC hard drive, the computer will find the Windows XP boot engine when boot, since the boot menu is configured, it will not change although the Windows 7 RC system does not exist. The solution for this issue is changing the Windows 7 RC boot menu. I suggest that you use EasyBCD to configure it.
