Deleted Windows Live mail files are not reducing disk space used by Live Mail? What can I do to delete email and gain more hd space?? So you know...my knowledge and skill level is "B"...not an expert, but enough knowledge to handle nearly any issue that isn't a result of a complicated software or hardware glitch. sort of the guy my office mates ask for assistance when the help lines are clogged up. STEPS I HAVE TAKEN: Usually I'm pretty effective at navigating around technet forums, Binging, Googling, etc. (all the usual suspects), but this problem has me stymied. I haven't found any similar issues. But, I presume I am no unique. Can you help me please? FYI: When I made an inquiry, this is the forum I was forwarded to...even though I am running WinXP Pro. Can you still help me, please? DETAILS: Running Windows XP Pro, I upgraded from Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail. Some files were lost in the transfer and some file names/ titles appear without any underlying file/data. I suspect that is all part of the transfer process...nothing works perfectly. Unfortunately some files are extremely important, so I am working on recovering them from my back-up. What concerns me most....my hard disk is running out of space 'cause the email I deleted in Windows Live Mail doesn't seem to be opening up space on my hard disc. Using WinXP Pro, when I delete email in Windows Live Mail, why isn't the disk space for windows live reduced in size? When I looked in my hard disk directory and browsed around the Windows Live Mail directories and files, I discovered email I deleted is still in Windows Live Mail sub-directories that I deleted weeks ago. Also a large amount of space is occupied by Windows Live Mail back-up files. ADDITIONAL INFO: FYI: In addition to using normal directory file systems, I also use Sequoia View to look at the detailed size and locations on my hard disk. What is going on and how can I open up space on my hard disk formally occupied by deleted email files (that don't appear to be deleted)? Thanks for any assistance you may provide. My best, Ted G
