Hi, Since your description is not very clearly, please provide more information about you situation: 1. What do you mean “ desktop not working properly”? Perhaps you may take a screenshot or just a photo for this, then use insert/ edit image function to post this picture here. 2. When this problem occurs? 3. Did you install any program, update or driver recently? First I suggest you may perform a Clean Boot then check whether this problem is caused by third party software. 1. Log on to the computer by using an account that has administrator rights. 2. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility. 3. On the General tab, click to select the option Selective startup, and then click to clear the option Load startup items check box. (The Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.) 4. On the Services tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all. Note Following this step lets Microsoft services continue to run. These services include Networking, Plug and Play, Event Logging, Error Reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you may permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use the System Restore utility together with existing restore points 5. Click OK, and then click Restart. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 If this problem disappears in Clean Boot, you may use half and half method to find the root cause. Note: Clean Boot is a step of troubleshooting, we can go back to normal by running MSCONIFG. If the issue persists, you may try to use system restore to repair this problem. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.
