Desktop freezes and shortcuts do not respond
I'm not sure if this is a Microsoft problem or whether there's something wrong with my computer, but thought I'd try here first. I'm having a problem accessing the net via my desktop. I share the computer with my husband and kids and we each have our own desktops. Theirs are working fine, but I seem to be able to only access one site before it freezes up. I click on a shortcut and it will connect fine, but once I close that site and try another, nothing happens. The shortcut does not even highlight, as if the mouse is not even working. And in some cases the first site I open wont close again. Even if I minimise it, it still stays there. If I switch users and then go back in again, the screen is often totally black except for the blue line across the bottom. The only way I can get anything to respond is to log off and log in again, but then its starts all over again, only letting me look at one site before freezing again.1 person needs an answerI do too

I've run Malwarebytes Anti Malware full scan and it found 2 things so I deleted them. Have restarted the computer and nothing has changed. I have no problems on my husband's desktop but it continually freezes on mine.

Since other user accounts on the system work fine*, then there must be something in yours that is causing difficulties. Two suggestions:1. If you are using Internet Explorer to browse the Internet:a. Run it in no-add-ons mode. You may have a third-party add-on which is the culprit.b. See if the same problem exists when you use an alternate browser like Firefox .Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode -http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/07/25/678113.aspx2. Start>Run>regedit [OK]; the Registry Editor opens. Navigate to:HKEY>CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>Windows>Current Version>Run and post back with what is listed there.3. What "two things" did MBAM find? Did you do the preparatory work listed at the malware removal link I gave you? If you did not do that work, please do so and run MBAM again. Report the results back in more details.*I am interpreting the statement from your first post - "we each have our own desktops" to mean that we are talking about ONE computer with MULTIPLE user accounts. If you really meant that you have MULTIPLE computers and YOUR computer is giving difficulties while other people's computers are fine, please post back with that clarification immediately so I can give you some different troubleshooting steps.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
