Desktop icons and taskbar change size each reboot

Hi,

Recently when I have been booting my PC with windows 8.1 Pro the desktop icons have tripled in size and the task bar has halved in size. I have no idea why this is. If I reboot my computer then the icons appear normal again.

Everything was running fine since iv'e had windows 8.1 and since i bought another monitor. It had just been a recent issue.

Yes I have scanned my computer for viruses/spyware with Avast and Spybot.

any ideas?

Hi,

According to your description, it looks like Graphic driver cause this problem, Have you tried to reinstall or upgrade your graphic driver for test? If not, please have a try.

In addition, you can try to create a new account to test this problem, if this problem caused by User profile corrupt, this method may could resolve this problem.

If problem persists, please check Event Viewer, to check whether there is any error records in it.

Updated driver, reinstalled it and still the same issue.

Created new account (childs account) and the issue did not appear to be there. Although, my current setup boots directly into my user so I have to logout from there before signing into the childs account.

What would i need to look at in event viewer?

Hi,

Since a new user account didn't occures this problem, the older account is not recommend to use. To Configure a User Account to Log On Automatically, you can refer to the link below which also applies to Windows 8, 8.1.

Configure a User Account to Log On Automatically on Windows 7:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ee872306.aspx

In addition, in Windows 8.1, you can change User Account type in Account of PC settings.
