Device disconnect sound
Hello! I installed Windows 7 RC yesterday and I have only one problem so far :D Windows keeps playing the device disconnect sound every 15 seconds. It is pretty annoying, so I stopped it, but do you have any idea what could be causing it? I checked my drivers - all are properly installed and updated. I hear the sound even when I have no external devices plugged in. Any suggestions?

You should probably check for new driver availability for your chipset drivers.Rating posts helps other users

I forgot to mention that I use the x64 version :) I installed the newest driver for Vista x64 because there are no drivers for Win 7 yet :D Hopefully sooner or later a driver for Windows 7 will be released and I won't hear that sound anymore :P Till then, it is just disabled!

I too have installed x64 version of Windows 7 RC and am having the device disconnect sound issues. It is not every 15 seconds, but it is every few minutes, annoying to say the least. I have an HP TX1219US tablet/entertainment PC that runs on the NVIDIA nForce Chipset/Network Drivers and I downloaded the lastest from HP (which are for Vista) and installed those and the sound did not go away. I've searched the event logs and can not find anything that would suggest why the sound is playing. Can anyone give me a hand in figuring this out?ThanksCharlie

The sound appears to come from the "Service Control Manager." Every time a service appears to stop or start, it makes the "Device Disconnected" sound. If you go into Event Viewer and look at the System logs, you should see many of these events for all the times you heard your computer make that sound.

Check your setupapi.dev.log and setupapi.app.log files. These files reside in the c:\windows\inf folder. These log files record device installations, and by examining them, you should be able to determine which device is constantly causing this issue.Trevor SullivanSystems EngineerOfficeMax Corporationhttp://trevorsullivan.wordpress.comTrevor Sullivan

Your device is OK. Just turn off all sounds e.i mute all sounds. Then restart your computer. If the sound persists then I think your computer has been demon possessed...or are you having hallucinations? You decide on it...
