Device manager manipulation
Hi all, I am making installation for an application that uses a custom driver (end user plug the USB cable and then it should choose the .inf and sys that i want to install along with the application). What is the best way to implement it? I mean, i need to copy the .inf and sys files to the system32 folder and then in device manager to point that device to those files ? how do i do it ? Is there a command line for devmgmt.msc that does it ? Is it safe to search the Device management for a driver and then to enforce it to use certain inf files ? Is it possible ? i saw something about application called "devcon" - is it applicable to windows 7 32 bit ? Thanks

1. For user to do this task he/she needs administrator rights. 2. Any different USB device (though of the same type) would ask you approval. 3. I think this is on the developer side how this is managed. Regards Milos
