Differences between 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 UAC
Hello, I want to know if there is any differences between 32-bit and 64-bit version of Windows 7 UAC? I found that when I use some applications (like WINRAR) in Windows 7 32-bit version it won't has the UAC prompt but in 63-bit version, it will has prompt every time I start the program. Does anyone have idea on it? Thanks!Bismarck Ho (TE022114P)

Again Arthur, don't always mark YOUR reply as anwser which is pure speculation. Mark both replies or none as answer. "A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

There does seem to be some difference. I also noticed 32-bit does not prompt UAC for some apps requiring elevation with the UAC slider set at the same default level as Windows 7 64-bit. I have tried installing an application that must run elevated and the installation always fails on Windows 7 32-bit unless it is run from within an elevated command prompt (there is no UAC prompt given when clicking on the install file , so I cannot get it to run elevated any other way than from an elevated command line). On Windows 7 64-bit, I can just click on the msi file and it installs without manual elevation.
