I am trying to run my disk defragmenter on Windows. I want to compress my files to increase my PC's performance. I am not very computer savvy! The error says... "Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume: (C:). Please run Chkdsk/f." Can ANYONE get me step-by step to figure this out? I haven't been able to defrag in months!1 person needs an answerI do too

Hi,You need to click on start -> Run & type -> chkdsk /f c: It will ask you "Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)" Press Y for yes. Restart your computer. It will check your system before you get the login screen. Once done, login and try Disk Defrag - It should start.Hope this helps.
