I've spent a frustrating couple of days trying to get raid 1/disk mirroring working on Windows 8. Finally I tried using Diskpart, which gave me the informative message
The command you selected is not available with this version of Windows.
Before receiving that message, I had found dozens of web pages, including some here at microsoft.com, explaining how to set up disk mirroring. Not one of them mentioned that I needed Windows 8 Pro. In everything I've read about the differences between the Windows 8 editions, there is nothing mentioned that seems to be related to this capability.
Mostly, I just want to rant because I'm so annoyed at having wasted so much time -- why would the writers of all those articles not mention such a crucial detail!? -- but is there a complete, concise list of the differences between the Windows 8 editions?
Is there an alternative disk mirroring solution for Windows 8?
