Display Adapter problem
When I did the ATI Radeon HD4200 windows update my screen suddenly reduced in size and now there'es a 3/4th to 1 inch black border all around it making my desktop screen much smaller. The last time this happened I was able to fix it by changing the scaling options from the ATI Catalyst Control Center. However after the Windows update, when I go to ATI CCC, there is nothing! IT doesn't even detect my monitor so I cannot make any changes whatsover by going to to Desktop and Displays icon. So I uninstalled ATI Radeon HD 4200 under the display adapter from device manager and then tried to download the ATI package from Radeon HD 4xxx series from http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/radeon_win7-64.aspx#2. However, now I don't even see the "display adapter" on my device manager and upon installing the ATI package from AMD it says " No ATI graphics driver is installed or it is not functoning properly. Install bthe ATI driver appropriate for your ATI hardware" What does this mean? And where do I get the appropriate driver? Please help!

Hi, Try troubleshooting the problem in safe mode. Press F8 after the BIOS and before Windows starts, then select safe mode with networking. There, you should uninstall anything ATI from programs\uninstall a program Click Start=>right-click Computer=>select Manage=>select Device Manager=>click on display adapter to expand and right-click on the Radeon device=>select uninstall. Now, close out of everything and reboot the computer normally. After you log-in, run the installer package that you downloaded from ATI. That is the latest. The only difference that I would recommend is to try the drivers only if the complete package doesn't work. The scaling is the correct setting.
