Do we stick with the RC or go back to using Vista or the old operating system?
With build 7600 being used as the RTM is there any benefit to sticking with build 7100. I have an ongoing updated Acronis image of Vista and Win7 stored. I will switch between the systems on occasion. For example, I get perterbed at the libraries windows freezing up in W7 or Outlook freezing and after awhile I'll go to the Vista image. Then, in Vista, I'll feel the laptop getting a hot bottom and wonder what is happening to the components or I'll get fed up with the network (wireless or wired) taking so long to link up when I boot and I'll switch back to W7. I've kept both versions so I can upgrade using Vista to w7 when it gets here.Does anyone have an idea whether MS will spend anytime fixing the issues in 7100 or fix any issues in Vista with W7 so close? Thanks,Levi<><

txlevi -Now that Windows 7 has gone to RTM, I seriously doubt they're going to be doing much, if anything with build 7100. It's still a valid OS - and you can continue to use ituntil either March 1, 2010 or until it ultimately drops dead on June 1, 2010. All fixes that were made to the RC's issues wound up in later builds, culminating in the RTM build. To get those fixes, you'll have to wait until GA (October 22nd, 2009) if you're not a member of Technet Plus or MSDN. If you are a member or have other affilliations, you can get your copy according to the schedule in this blog entry.Under NO circumstances is it recommended that you download and install build 7600 from any site claiming to have it or a P2P network as those builds may be spiked with malware. As far as Vista goes... Vista is still a currently supported operating system. As such, there are fixes being made ready and released pretty much every month. If there are any issues you're having with Vista, you should go to the appropriate forums on Technet and see if you can find a resolution to the issue or report it if there isn't any posts that cover the problem(s) you may be having.

Wolfie2k6:Your message is clearly understood. I would never download a Windows release unless it comes from MS. I guess I will just have to stick with Vista for the next 91 days. I will stop trying to fiddle with 7100 any longer. It was for sure much better than Vista on my laptop but it did have a problem opening up a library selection without having to restart windows explorer.I am sure there are better days ahead.Levi<><
