Drive letter issue, can't start Win7
Kind of an odd question, but here goes. I have 5 partitions on my HDD (in order): NTFS (primary, boot), WinXP (C:) NTFS (logical), Win7 (F:) ext3 (logical), Ubuntu / hdd(0,5) swap (logical), Ubuntu Swap hdd(0,6) ext3 (logical), Ubuntu /home hdd(0,7) I'm running beta 7077, I'm upgrading (yes, I modified the setup) to RC. Here's the issue. I installed 7077 beta, lost my grub menu to boot linux, didn't care for the moment, used 7. I went to upgrade to RC. found out, I didn't give my F: partition enough space to do so. I restored grub, used ubuntu/gparted to resize all of my partitions, no issues. At the moment, I can boot all 3 OS's, somewhat. XP and Ubuntu are 100% running. In order to upgrade Win7, I need to be inside of the Win7 OS. I can't quite get there. I can boot Win7, I can get to the login screen, enter my password and log on. After that, it hangs, just a blue background with "7077 Evaluation Copy" on the bottom corner. I can get to the task manager and run simple tasks, I can use cmd to get to the command prompt. I think I found the issue, but I can't solve the issue: WinXP sees the 2 first partitions of the drive as C: and F:. Win7 sees them as C: and D:. When I run cmd, it brings me to d:\windows\system32 (Win7). I'd imagine the reason it's not running properly is because most of the system files are pointing to F:\*.*, but F: does not exist. Is there anything I can do, to fix 7 just enough to complete the upgrade? I want to save a lot of the settings, but I guess I could back up, at least the files and do a full install. :( I already got a ton of programs installed.
