E-mail windows 7
Greetings, As we are looking a bit further in the future we are planning to slowly upgrade from our old operating system to windows7. Most of our pc's (90%) run with xp professional and they all use outlook express. Now our biggest concern is the e-mail program. Is the best way for us to use the windows live feature and if so can we safely move the express accounts to the new program (will they lose their contacts and stored mails) or are their alternatives so that our clients are able to transfer their old data? Kind regards

You need to go to the Live website and download Windows Live Mail. I have documented the copy/export procedure and here it is:
MESSAGESOECreate folders on your desktop or external device and name them OEInbox and OESent. Open Outlook Express, go to the Inbox, click on a message line then press Ctrl+A to Select All and drag the highlighted items into OEInbox. Repeat it for Sent Items and any other mail boxes that you have. If the folders are not on an external device, copy them to one.WLMOpen WLM, display the Inbox and open the external OEInbox folder, Select All of the items from the OEInbox folder and drag them to the WLM Inbox. Repeat this for any other mail boxes.
If you are on a network and have set the shares and permissions, the OEInbox and OESent folders can be copied over rather than put on an external device.
CONTACTS OEGo to File > Export > Address Book and select Comma Separated Values (CSV) > Export, select the fields you want or, for more safety, select all the fields and save it to an external device (or use the network).WLMGo to the Windows Orb (Start), type shell:contacts and press Enter to display the Contacts folder. Click Import > CSV > Import and browse to the file you exported from Outlook Express.
ACCOUNTSOEGo to Tools > Accounts > Mail Tab and select the first one you want to export. Click on it and then press Export. Save it to an external device (or use the network). Repeat this procedure for any other e-mail accounts you want to export.WLMGo to Tools (press Alt if the Toolbar is not showing) > Accounts > Import > Browse to the location of the file to be imported.
