EFS.TMP being left behind when encrypting new files
Hi
Until today I have been using EFS encryption on my Windows 7 Pro 64 without a problem.
Today I moved an additional folder in into my encrypted folder. When I tried to copy it out again (I frequently make unencrypted copies a secure drive), I found it to be full of EFS0.TMP EFS1.TMP etc files. I do not have ownership to read these files so
I can't make a copy of the folder anymore.
These EFS0.TMP etc. temporary files never used to get left behind when encrypting. I have not changed anything related to encryption recently as far as I know.
Surely this is a bug, right? Does anyone know what might cause this and what the solution might be?
Thanks in advance.
Update:
It looks like the TMP files are actually unencrypted plain text versions of the files! This is a really bad problem!
I did recently install Microsoft Security Essentials in case that could cause the problem.

This is because you do not have permission for the folder. I suggest you edit the permission list for that folder. If it does not work, please take the ownership of the folder. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi Arthur
I already have permissions and ownership of the folder. Your tip helps me delete the TMP files which are left behind, if I extend the permissions/ownership to all contained files and folders.
However this does not explain why the TMP files are being left behind in the first place. This never used to occur.
Anyone? Thanks in advance.
