Eliminating Windows sign-on screen after terminating Remote Desktop session
I am using Remote Desktop to connect PC-A to PC-B, start a program on PC-B, enter some information required by the program, and then terminate the remote connection from PC-A (the initiator). All this works fine, but after the termination, the sign-on screen appears on PC-B. I do not want the sign-on screen to display and, if possible, I would like the program started by PC-A (on PC-B) to be shown. By way of example, assume I would like to select a video for display on PC-B. On PC-A, I will connect via Remote Desktop to PC-B, start an app on PC-B that allows me to choose a video for display on PC-B. When I close Remote Desktop on PC-A, I would like the video to start on PC-B without requiring a sign-on. PC-B has neither keyboard or mouse. Both PCs are Win7 Pro. PC-B is set up to automatically start with a selected user so that after boot I am in the desktop of the selected user without requiring sign-on credentials. Clearly I'm missing something, but what I don't understand is why I can boot directly to a desktop, but subsequently require authentication after a remote desktop session. Any idea how I can accomplish what I would like to do? Thanks.

Since the Remote desktop session is a seperate session from the local desktop session you cannot easily make your remote desktop the local desktop. But with VNC (I use the free TightVNC and UltraVNC clients/servers) you essentially share the local desktop session over the network. They are pretty easy to setup and run and if you exit your remote VNC session the local desktop is looking exactly as you left the remote session. Wolfgang
