Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion
Windows 7 Pro laptop will not connect to corporate domain. Multiple identical twin laptops have no problem. Best suggestion so far has been to leave the domain and rejoin it, BUT the relevant buttons are grayed out and the comment says "Note: The identification of the computer cannot be changed because:- The Workstation service is not running. Open the Services snap-in (services.msc) to ensure it is running and set its Startup Type as "Automatic"." In services.msc the Workstation service is already set to Automatic but is not started. When I try to start it manually the response is "Windows could not start the Workstation service on Local Computer." and then "Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion." Rebooting gets me nowhere. In all other respects that laptop appears fine and can connect to the Internet, but NOT to the network. I have brought it and a twin laptop home to try on my domestic network and get the same results. Any ideas, please?

Please try this link they do seem to have some intresting suggestions: "Sounds like it may be the same issue as here: https://forums.checkpoint.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=11234&tstart=0 Netlogon service can not start if the Workstation service has already failed to start. Set Windows to use the AHCI SATA controller drivers, go straight into the BIOS when prompted to restart, set the hard drive controller in there to be AHCI/SATA (instead of compatibility / IDE mode) and let us know if that fixes it."

Hi, Let us go to services.msc and navigate to Network Store Interface Service. Please check whether this service has been set to Automatic and turned on.Kim Zhou TechNet Community Support

Thank you Brano Lukic, but that was talking about a different operating system. I cannot wait any longer and hence I have taken an image from the working twin laptop and put that onto the problem machine. I then changed the Windows license key and the Computer Name to the correct ones.
