Plug and Play and Telephony are already started. Remote Access Auto Connection Manager (dependency problem)and Remote Access Connection Manager ("error 2: the system cannot find the file specified") cannot be started. This is a relatively new Win7! What can I do?

Hi, This issue can occur by corrupted service or system files. You can perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue. 1. Assure the "Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol Service" is started. Then, please verify the relevant services again. If the error message persists, please proceed to the next steps. 2. Copy the following files and registry key on another Windows 7 machine which the relevant services can be started fine. a. Please locate the following folder: C:\Windows\System32 and copy the two files: rasmans.dll rasauto.dll b. Please navigate the following two registry keys and transfer them to the problematic machine: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\RasMan HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\RasAuto 3. If the error still occurs, please run System File Checker (SFC) to verify whether any system file is corrupted. Thanks, Novak

Novak, Thanks for the advice, I'll need to find a friend with a Win7 PC... Question - is this a "safe" move? Can this potentially screw up my OS? What steps can I do to make sure this is reversible? Any tips? Thanks!
