Hi, 80004005 is a fairly generic error, # for hex 0x80004005 / decimal -2147467259 : DDERR_GENERIC ddraw.h DIERR_GENERIC dinput.h DPERR_GENERIC dplay.h DPNERR_GENERIC dplay8.h DSERR_GENERIC dsound.h DVERR_GENERIC dvoice.h ecError ec.h MAPI_E_CALL_FAILED mapicode.h STIERR_GENERIC stierr.h E_FAIL winerror.h # Unspecified error # 10 matches found for "80004005" This is most commonly caused by a firewall issue, but likely not on your computer. Can you give a little more insight into the following, 1) Are you connecting using a UNC path (ex. \\myuniversity.edu\fileshare) or using an HTTP path as you might with WebDAV (ex. http://somesite.myuniversity.edu/some/path) 2) Where are you trying to connect from? Are you connecting from inside of your campus network or outside and are you using VPN? Do you know if there are any firewalls that might be preventing access between your system and the target system) 3) Are your classmates able to connect, and where are they connecting from? 4) What OS is the system that you are trying to connect to? 5) Is there an alternate way that you can use to access the files, such as accessing a web server? 6) Is this something that your campus IT department is likely to be able to support? -- Mike Burr

hmmm, When you are in class and connected to the campus network, can you open a command prompt and run ipconfig /all nslookup s-ma-sccm01.student.trios and post the output? Also, can you have a classmate that can access the share execute the same and post the output?-- Mike Burr

Do you each have your own username and password for accessing the share or is it a shared password? You can try mapping it as a network drive when you are connected to the network by opening Start -> Computer, Click Map Network Drive, enter \\s-ma-sccm01.student.trios\instructorshare for the path, then check "connect using different credentials," and click finish. Ensure that the correct username/password are entered and see if it maps as a drive. If you have your own login, then try that first, if it fails, see if it works with your friend's credentials.-- Mike Burr
