Error message synchronizing incorrect folder (NEW)
I have a small network consisting of a server running Small Business Server 2003 and 15 PCs running Windows 7. I have a login script that maps network drives for all users, which includes the Users Shared Folder (H:\\Server\Users) and the individual users own folder (I:\\Server\Users\Username) by way of a variable in the logon script. For each user I have made the I: drive available offline however a number of users receive a sync conflict. When I look at the error I see that they are receiving an "Access Denied" error when synchronizing\\Server\Users\Chris, Chris being one of the users on the network. They shouldn't be synchronizing with Chris's folder, as I haven't asked the PC to do this and I can't see where Windows is picking up this information from. I have found that I can clear the error by deleting temporary files through Sync Centre but the problem will come back after a couple of days. ----------------------------------------------------- 1. En,, if we disable the logon script, after we delete the temp files, will the problem happen again? - Yes, I disabled the login script and deleted temp files and the problem still occured. 2. Does the error(related to "Chris") appear in the Sync Center? - Yes it does appear in Sync Center. 3. On a client, In the Sync Center, if you click "Manage offline files", and then if you click "view your offline files", can you see the "Chris" folder? - It varies from PC to PC (as I have several users reporting this issue) 4. What about trying to reset the offline file database - I have followed the instructions for resetting the offline file database and this clears the problem, however I know it will return at some point in the future. To clarify a couple of other points:- 1. This issue relates to a number of users and the folder that causes the problem varies from user to user. 2. The error occurs even if the user has Full Control permissions for the folder. 3. Once the error message appears it appears everytime the user logs on until we do something to clear it, such as resetting the offline files database. 4. I believe it may coincide with a different user logging on to a PC, for example if Chris were to logon to User1's PC, User1 would start to get the error, but this is not always the case. Can anybody suggest why this is happening and what I can do to resolve it? Thanks David

Hi, Firstly, please let us know the following: 1. Does each user map their own folder (I:\\Server\Users\Username) or all folders in I: Drive? 2. Does Chris have issue in mapping I:\\Server\Users\Chris? Meanwhile, please check following: 1. Check if you have enabled the related group policies: Synchronize all offline files before logging off and Synchronize all offline files when logging on under Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Network -> Offline Files in Local Group Policy Editor. 2. Please double check your logon script if you make all clients mapping I:\\Server\Users\Chris. If you do not mind, you can also share it to us. Hope this helps. Jeremy Wu TechNet Community Support
