Event ID: 11163 - The system failed to register host (A or AAAA) resource records (RRs) for network adapter
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone else has seen this issue. We have had this issue for about one year on only our Vista Clients, but it does not seem to be affecting DNS registration. I have our Windows 2008 DHCP server setup to handle all DNS registration, so Im thinking that this might be a bug as I dont see this on any of our Windows XP Clients. Also, shouldn't Vista be smart enought to know that the DHCP server is handling everthing? Thanks for your help!Log Name: SystemSource: DnsApiDate: 30/11/2009 8:28:48 PMEvent ID: 11163Task Category: NoneLevel: WarningKeywords: ClassicUser: N/AComputer: WCONVERSION1.channelm.localDescription:The system failed to register host (A or AAAA) resource records (RRs) for network adapterwith settings:
Adapter Name : {EC807713-C62E-4E05-A90D-F8262A61B72F} Host Name : WCONVERSION1 Primary Domain Suffix : channelm.local DNS server list : 10.95.7.63, 10.95.7.43 Sent update to server : 10.95.7.63:53 IP Address(es) : 10.95.7.119
The reason the system could not register these RRs was because the DNS server failed the update request. The most likely cause of this is that the authoritative DNS server required to process this update request has a lock in place on the zone, probably because a zone transfer is in progress.
You can manually retry DNS registration of the network adapter and its settings by typing "ipconfig /registerdns" at the command prompt. If problems still persist, contact your DNS server or network systems administrator.
