Events and Errors Message Center issues
The event log offers an online help link. For some events this works as expected and shows a page with explanations for the logged event. In other cases a German windows 7 home premium online help link ends up on a German page explaining that there is no help available, but that the query was noted for future improvements of the online help. These are the sound cases. A third variety ends up on a general (non-localized) page, e.g., http://www.microsoft.com/technet/support/ee/SearchResults.aspx?Type=1&Fallback=1&Source=Disk&ID=11&Product=Windows%20Operating%20System&Version=6.1.7600.16385&Language=1031 This general page proposes to enter the query manually in the style "vista application error 1031". When I try this for "windows 7 disk event id 11" (or variations of this query) with Chrome 9.x or IE9 I end up on another general page with an empty search box: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Search/en-US On that second page I can enter the question (example: "windows 7 disk event id 11") again manually and get the first twenty of about 1,000,000 hits. There are two problems with this procedure: 1: the "disk event id 11" issue is apparently popular enough to deserve its own working online help page without further manual interventions... ;-) 2: the first manual search form should already do the trick without going to a second search form http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Search/en-US

These forums are focused on support for the Windows 7 operating system. Yes, I was talking about the "online help" links in a Windows 7 event log, sorry if that was unclear. Somebody should fix this, as noted it works for some events, but fails for others. If you have a good idea who is responsible for this issue please tell them. I could check more events if that helps.

use the following feedback link. Windows 7 feedback - Speak to us at Microsoft All of this feedback is sorted and passed along to the developers responsible for the particular subject. Done, thanks. Sadly this doesn't create a trouble ticket, and there won't be any response. In my experience "user feedback" goes straight to \dev\nul.
