Explorer.exe will not load at start up. I run Windows XP
I have read as many posts about this problem as I can find but none seem to help with my issue.Explorer.exe will not run at start up but will run after entering it in Task Manager under New Task. After rebooting once again it will not load .. back to task manager.I cannot start my computer in Safe Mode .. I receive a blue screen with a failure notification.Over the past week I have fought several bugs and now according to Malwarebytes, Spyware Doctor and Norton my system is clean. I ran scans and cleaning last night before shutting down for the night. As I have today and am still clean.I ran a system restore thru msconfig and recieved notice that it was unable to restore. This same message was received after choosing several of the available restore dates. The explorer.exe problem occurred today for the first time when I booted my computer this morning, and has re-occurred after each reboot today.I hope you can help .. all sys edit intructions I have been able to find apply to Vista.Thank you,Jax1 person needs an answerI do too

Hello JaxNative Norton could be the cause of your System Restore problemhttp://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/sharedtech.nsf/0/c7a9848df95596b9882570c900605bf5?OpenDocumentIf System Restore does not help, there could be a problem with your explorer.exe fileIt should be found in C:\WindowsSearch for it and you should find other copies in Service Pack folders.Try replacing it with a COPY of one of these..
