Explorer Continually Crashing
I seem to have an ongoing problem with Explorer continually crashing. It seems to becaused mainly when browsing with IE7 although not always (it has occured when using just Firefox too). I'm running Vista Ultimate 32. The error message i'm getting is below: Problem signature: Problem Event Name:APPCRASH Application Name:Explorer.EXE Application Version:6.0.6001.18000 Application Timestamp:47918e5d Fault Module Name:msvcrt.dll Fault Module Version:7.0.6001.18000 Fault Module Timestamp:4791a727 Exception Code:c0000005 Exception Offset:00009c00 OS Version:6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1 Locale ID:3081 Additional Information 1:56cf Additional Information 2:6bb69c18a471c23851ac42e91ac6ceab Additional Information 3:a81a Additional Information 4:bf33d4078d4a351dd2a4fb05c14a9392 Read our privacy statement: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=50163&clcid=0x0409 I haven't installed anything recently except SuperAntiSpyware. I was hit with the "Vundo" trojan a couple of days back and although McAfee claimed to have completely removed it, I quickly realised it hadn't and it took SuperAntiSpyware and 3 scans to do it. I am unsure if this is related at all. I've also attached a HiJackThis log if that helps. Any feedback appreciated. Hi, You seem to be running quite a few applications there. Try removing a lot of the dell utilities which you probably never use. Also can you log onto safe mode with networking and see if the IE crashes. Also try holding down shift(might be ctrl)while double clicking on IE (starts safe mode IE) without all the plugins and see if that makes a difference andif it does, you can investigate more on the plugins loaded and disable all plugins and enable them one by one to find out the problem child(plugin).

Hi, Sorry if i wasn't clear but its Windows Explorer not IE thats crashing. I can get Windows Explorer to crash even when just using firefox however it does seem to happen more regularly when i'm using IE.I have turned off all add-ons to IE through the manage add-ons and it is stil happening. I tried the Ctrl or Shift and double clicking on IE and that seems to do nothing. Ie just loads normally. I went through add remove programs and removed any dell or other apps I didn't think i needed. Again no change. Any further suggestions? Cheers

Use the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to check the system file:Some Windows Vista functions may not work, or Windows Vista may stop respondinghttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-us 2. Perform a clean boot in Windows Vista:How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vistahttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135/en-us Hope it helps.
