Failure audit 680 with Vista and Windows 2003 Server
I have a Win2K3 domain and mostly XP desktops with a few Vista desktops. When I logon with the local admin account on the Vista desktops, my file server and ONLY the file server(which is a domain member) receives the following error every 15-20 seconds:
Security
Failure Audit
6/30/2009 5:11:04 PM
Account Logon
NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Logon attempt by: MICROSOFT_AUTHENTICATION_PACKAGE_V1_0
Logon account: local-admin
Source Workstation: D61M23455
Error Code: 0xC0000064
When I logon using a domain account the errors do not occur. I searched on the web about this error, but there is not much out there.

Hi thanks for the post. Based on the error code, this issue may occur if you try to log on with a non-existing account. You can check if this is the case. Also, it seems this is a general Windows Server related issue. As this forum focuses on Windows Vista specific issues, this inquiry would best be posted to Windows Server forum:

The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding.Sean Zhu - MSFT
