Failure to stay shut down
This machine with a MSI K8N Neo3 mobo fails to stay shut down. No matter what selection I chose (Shut Down, hibernate, or sleep) the machine immediately restarts without any action on my part. The power on button on the computer front panel behaves the same way. i.e. it shuts down but immediately restarts. The only way to keep the machine shut down is to power off at the power supply.
As far as I can tell everything in Power Management is set correctly. The Power button is set to Shut the machine down, the Sleep button isset to put the machine to sleep and, in fact, Power Management worked as expected before upgrading from Vista to Window7.I have sent feedback to MS but I don't expect any help from them unless this is a significant problem and not unique to my machine or even my mobo.Wayne

There are numerous people having problems with shutting down and/or sleep mode, but there aren't any fixes out yet except for disallowing hardware to wake up the computer from standby (for instance your network adapter).Frop said:Control
Panel -> Device Manager -> Network adapters -> Right mouse
click on your network adapter -> Properties -> Power Management
(tab) -> Uncheck 'Allow this device to wake the computer'.You
might have to repeat these steps for additional network adapters or
possibly any other hardware which supports this Power Management
function and might be responsible for waking up your system. Good luck!

Most likely some sort of driver issue which MS will fix in a future update.

The following Win 7 commandline tool might help diagnosing the problem. It produces a detailled report.
powercfg /energy

I'm having problems returning from shutdown or restart. Many times the machine stops in a blank skreen and I'm forced to turn off and turn on again.
