File and Print sharing enable or disable for security reasons?
Hello, Should we disable file and print sharing on 750 clients for security reasons? Seven years ago the company rolled out XP and has disabled file and print sharing for security reasons. Now we want to rollout windows 7 and have a discussion if we enable or disable File and print sharing. The possibility in the firewall to disable or enable (SMB, NB sessions etc.) fore some parts of file and print sharing is a advantage. Also that you can enable/disable it for the different profiles. But why should you set it open when no one needs access on his neighbor’s machine (files and printers)? Please feel free too think with me and give me some stuff to think over. Thanks and best regards, Perry van Erning
