File corruption when network used for anything but copying
I have two computers: one Win7 32 bit HP (server) and one Win7 64 bit HP (client)If I try to work with files over network from client to server, the files in question will be corrupted. If I copy those same files through Windows Explorer, they will be copied just fine.Example: I was downloading NVidia GFX drivers and Auzentech Audio drivers (both pretty large downloads, total about 200MB) and told the browser to save them to network share. Both were corrupt when I tried to open them after download. Then I downloaded them to local disk and copied them to the share after download. This time, both files were fine.I highly doubt there is something wrong with my internet connection or with the (internet)servers. This situation is completely repeatable on my particular computers so I'm sure there's something wrong with networking in Win7.These are "standard" shares, not HomeGroup.Any suggestions?

Just a wild guess, but is the time the same on both machines? (not more than a minute apart). Its possible that your downloaded files in the temp directory are complete and if you attempt to redownload them they'll complete very quickly as it may not be but like 2kb difference between what's in your temp folder and your share folder. Yes, both computers synchronize through SNTP each night.Your wild guess is incorrect.File corruption is throughout the file - a RAR archive will report corruption at multiple points in the file.I've heard today that power settings may affect this. Will check if setting the NICs to full power helps.

Hi, Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Ensure that all the NICs drivers are up-to-date. 2. Disable SNP in Windows 7 by setting Registry as following: Note: Please perform a full-system backup first. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters] EnableTCPChimney=dword:00000000 EnableTCPA=dword:00000000 EnableRSS=dword:00000000 3. Run the following commands one by one in an elevated command prompt in Windows 7: netsh interface tcp set global rss=disabled netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled netsh int ip set global taskoffload=disabled Hope this helps.
