File record segment unreadable
When attempting to start my pc I get a string of messages reading---File record segment (a five character number is here) is unreadable. I should also mention that this was on a blue screen if that is pertinent. It started yesterday and went for almost 1.5 hours before I had to shut the power off. Today all I could get on the screen was the Microsoft XP start up screen but it would go no further. Any comments or suggestions?1 person needs an answerI do too

Hello Austin; These errors are usually the result of a failing hdd. I would immediately back-up all your personal data. Next, run the diagnostic testing tool for your particular hdd which is determined by the hdd manufacturer. The below is a list of the most common. If your hdd manufacturer does not offer such a tool you can use Seatools by Seagate as it will work with most drives. fujitsu http://www.fcpa.fuji...ves/#diagnostic IBM and Hitachi http://www.hgst.com/...ownload.htm#DFT Maxtor/Quantum http://www.maxtor.co...ducts/index.htm Samsung http://www.samsungel...ties_index.html Seagate http://www.seagate.c...ools/index.html Western Digital http://support.wdc.com/download Post your results please.
